It's spring! :) Anyways, that obviously means spring sports! And how excited am I to get outside and take pictures of new sports (as I'm sure everyone in my class is because they're tired of seeing basketball pictures, haha)! But yesterday I went to a softball game and I think I did... okay ... ish. It was more difficult than I had anticipated. But I tried. I think I got a few decent shots but we will see on Monday when I head to the lab to look them over. Sadly, I don't have time today because I'm going to more games - baseball and I believe that's it for now. But I didn't know for most softball games they play 2 in a row, one at 3 and one at 5. I mean I guess it makes sense to do less traveling but that's kind of odd. I wonder if baseball is the same? I actually stood in the fence though, I got special permission :) but I was careful, don't worry. I didn't get hit with any foul balls or anything. I don't know how the field today will be set up but I'll figure it out. I'm not really sure what a good softball/baseball shot is though. Obviously someone hitting the ball but what else... the pitcher pitching? someone sliding into a base - which didn't happen at all? someone in the outfield catching it - but that was kind of a boring shot? I have to look at some images I guess. I'm really not sure. But I always seem to put my own spin on things anyways so I guess it doesn't really matter. I don't conform completely. But moving on.
I officially started work on my book the other day. I didn't get very far because I don't have most of my images in the right size/format - so I have to do that before I can really start. But I have three major survey questions to pose. 1. Should I do the cover with one big picture on it instead of mostly black with a few small ones? I think I like the look of the one big one better but I don't know which one I would use...? 2. Any creative ideas for a title? 3. Should I organize the sports by sport, by season, by game, randomly, etc...? Because I have more good ones of some sports than others and would it look weird if I only had pictures from one volleyball game and they were all right next to each other? Or if I have a few good ones from one soccer game should I put them together or mix them all in so it doesn't look weird? I can't figure out if once I put my pages together I can move them around in the book. I decided I'm using the software they have to download because they have tons of layouts already made and it's easier that way and then all I have to do is resize my images in the lab and I can do everything on my own computer. I really need to get photoshop on my computer. Add that to the list. I should make a list. Let's see...
1. new longer, faster lens
2. monopod so I don't die trying to hold item number 1
3. photoshop CS4
4. (maybe) vertical holder thing
5. website
6. more memory cards
Wasn't that fun? Just reminds me of all the stuff I need. But let's be happy now. One of Kate's friends from home asked if I would photograph her wedding except she wants to see test shots which obviously I do not have because I've never shot a wedding before. I don't even know if I really could. Would I be good at it? Who knows. Well I am going to go because I have stuff to do before the game. Sorry this was so long, you know how I am - haha. Enjoy the sunshine! :)
